Krunk! & Restricted ft. Kelly Matejcic – With You feat. Kelly Matejcic (Remix Competition)
Well, I said I`d keep an eye on the remix competition “scene” a little more.. quite glad I did now. Spinnin` Records do seem to be ruling the roost atm, on the comps side of things, and here`s another one of their best offerings.
Even had a little dabble on this too, mainly because I wanted the hear the vocal and piano, up a semitone if the truth be told.. and long story short, I`ve ended up with an arrangment (of sorts), basically, with every element of the original I liked.. so everything but drum and a bassline, 128 Bpm.
And pitched up 1 semitone ! Is that even allowed in remix competitions?
The competition stems are also of good quality, which is nice to see. There`s 4 separated packs of Vox/Fx/Synths/Drums which as a “stems pack” is also nice to see.. more of that please too. In fact the pack is very nearly approaching multitrack status, but no kick drum and everything being “wet” stops that. All the same, great stem set.

For funsies, here`s my stems as used in the mix above. Both the stem packs for this song have been added on the Samples page (Mega) here. Not going to really have the time (or the inclination currently) to do the bassline and drums for this remix, which it needs, so throwing it over to you guys to finish should anybody want to.. deadline for entries is 15th Sept.

Clean Bandit Ft. Kesha – Tick Tock Tik Tok (Mash Up)
Rule number 1 of Mash Up making: Always check any obvious pairing so you get “a great title” for your Mash Up from the off. It must be “witty” in some way. That`s the rule. Then we hope and pray the acapella and instrumental could maybe work together in some way at least, and that both the key & bpm is somewhat similar. In that order.
Maybe thats just me (lol) but I couldn`t help but notice Clean Bandit have a new track out called Tick Tock, and as the instrumental recently landed, there was only one pella that was going to get checked within minutes. Got to say I wasn`t holding out much hope because, a, I`m not that lucky, and b, it just wouldn`t be that easy on first try.. would it ? Never works like that.
Well, call me Mr Surprised-a-lot cos it kinda did work out. Even though the Clean Bandit track is 101 Bpm and Kesha`s vocal was 120 Bpm, they do sort of go. At 105 Bpm. It`s not perfect, but it`ll pass in a bar when everyones had a few drinks! which frankly, is usually the yardstick best worked to on the cheesy stuff.
Dunno how long it`ll last on Soundcloud, but here it is for a quick listen if you want.

One last thing.. I`m sure I had the stems for Kesha`s Tik Tok, as in 100% sure, but I cant for the life of me find them.I usually double/triple back up, but not in this case it seems. Now I know they were rare back in the day, and I think they may still be now, but luckily, I know there`s a few old skool Kesha fans in our midst, so here`s a request for the Tik Tok stems if anyone has a copy? Myself and the community would appreciate.ty.
One other last thing, [DISCLAIMER]: I was in no way butthurt/jealous or inspired into making this Mash Up by the last most excellent “official mash up” by Clean Bandit, which I really really liked, which, when I played it to someone they said ” sounds like you did it”. So I wasn`t butthurt at all. Not one bit. just sayin 🙂

This fact in general is still keeping the die hard PF fans down in the dumps, and has been for many years, and of those fans wanting to hear some PF a little more stripped down, the only option has been to get into the 5.1 seperation thing.

Becky Hill & Sigala – Heaven On My Mind (Studio Acapella)(44.1k-16bit)
Bit of a novelty this one, so worthy of a post and a plug ! An actual somewhat official Becky Hill & Sigala Studio Acapella is doing the rounds it seems.. And still no one knows where all the other Sigala (and similar) stuff is hiding?? (Please get in touch if you do).
Great track tho so do check it out.. and the pella is nice too even if it does get a little “busy” towards the end if you know what I mean. Absolutely a case for releasing any acapellas to DJ`s & remixers in say a 6-10 pack of Vocal Stems or something, with wets and drys. PLEASE !!!! (all of the time..) Would make a world of difference.
Because, I`ve had an hour on this and is actually a great tune to remix. It`s a nice tempo (125) nice key and it does offer up some nice progressions along the way. It`s all very nice. So, do have a go at it even if you`re a bit 50/50. (You`ll get a spot on backing track for something else if you dont get far into finishing anyway).(lol).
All the same, solid acapella to have around maybe for reference, and of course great for a Mash Up (in this form).. they do seem to be all the rage again, so why not 🙂

I did hear on the grapevine that Mash ups were getting signed.. A Madonna one I believe, (which coincidentally I now cant find on you tube) but I wasn`t expecting this one.. and being officially released by the all the artists and labels involved with big hugs all round. good stuff.. call me impressed.
You do realise though that this opens up avenue`s that weren`t really that open before.. I mean, the record labels actually having a bit of fun with.. music!! and letting it happen ..What is this madness???
Oh well, all aboard the Mash-Up Train.

Hey Guys,
These days are flyin` uh?
Once again a big hello to the newbies and again my thanks for the continued support from you all. 🙂
Hoping you guys are liking the slight changes as to how we are doing things in regards to the style of posting on the main page. We now have a video plug in working well-ish.. so thats a keeper, and I hope you are enjoying the more “bloggy” posts too.
You might also have seen a couple of posts on the main page with a note to “mail in for more info” on them? Gonna take a little time to explain in more detail what these are to avoid any confusion. Or probably make more in reality lol. Some “info” posts will be posted as a “heads up” for the top tier guys, but mainly for the majority of you guys on the mid tier, this is also a way I can judge interest on a certain file before a release. And it`s popularity, or the lack of ! So a rough popularity contest in a way..kinda. So, (for now until I find a better way of doing this) this is how this will work: everytime you register interest in a file it will get logged along with all other requests for the pack, and when a release date is decided, you will be informed directly. In a nutshell. This is going to tie in with the “less live download links” thing from the last news fyi, which currently I see as an important thing we have to persue. Especially with the rarer files.
Feel free to log interest in as many files as you want, because the proposed release dates will differ, though they will probably be sometime early on in the month.
This might seem a confusing way of doing things, at first, but if you think it through, this way only the people really wanting a pack will mail in, which is how it seems to be working thanks to the small trial I`ve been running. Which is great. Proof of concept right there 🙂 It will also help keep the file much much rarer, which is always nice. And there`s no links on the site, which is the main winner.
You also need to know that these files will be a major part rare files page/idea at some point, and you also need to know that these rare files will have an allocation attached, even so, it is STRONGLY ADVISED to show your interest on a pack by all means, but please dont plan to hoard, because the RFP wont be working like that.
I hope you can all work out from that roughly how the “posts with no download links” are going to work and what they`re about! Thought it best to give you all an idea how this will be before I get to posting more “info” posts.. there may be quite a few coming ! Hopefully you`re now getting used to an ever evolving site lol.. no point stopping now !

The Blackbyrds – Walking In Rhythm (Multitrack & Protools Session)(12 Mono Tracks)(96k-24bit)
This is going to be a tricky one to pitch. Pardon the pun. There we go line 1.
The “purist” multitrack collector will really not like this pack much, because it is nowhere near what we call a “complete multitrack”. And you`ll hopefully be interested to know, there are quite a few of these types of packs around. Some have a multitude of missing parts, some will have the entire guitar and piano track mixed down (quietly) over a really loud electronic “beatbox” rendering it useless (more on that one soon), some will just have 8 tracks of silence. Sometimes, basically, it`s a bit “Pot Luck”.
But, it is all a matter of perspective. For now, it is what it is. Look on the brightside. Packs like this could be a rarity. There may be NO full version at all. So something is better than nothing? And to a remixer and not a collector, stuff like this is absolute gold. Put stems like these in the right hands and they find ALL the perfectly pitched,timed and best takes and make some loops.. and from those loops, they might make a top ten song, and everybody gets paid again. You just dont know (lol). I`d rather there were a 100 packs like this rather than a big fat zero of em tbh..
As to what is actually in this pack, for starters there`s a Protools session file in there so hopefully someone has already found the best loops..;) but musically, admittedly, it`s a let down. It seems there is only “some” instrumentation (no strings) 🙁 and percussion from the intro of the song only, and in 5 different takes. AKA: loop material.
But probably really really good loop material 😉

Where to start with Zedd? I`ve been a fan a while tbh, rated right up there with my more favoured EDM producers. Really talented guy.. and now all nicely signed up with Universal, feet under the carpet ECT.., so one would expect some more nice new compositions. Soon please.
Speaking of which, the new single. Not what I was expecting in all honesty, but it sort of fits into the current style of EDM/Pop quite nicely. Not a million miles away (musically) from what you might find on Dua Lipa`s Future Nostalgia. In fact you could throw this instrumental right in the middle of the Dua Lipa FN Insts and you`d be hard pressed to tell any difference.. (He`s that good).
Check out the video to Funny here . It is actually really funny. Very creative and safe to say its kinda inspired by the recent “lockdown” and Zoom streams ..sort of thing. Great video tho from start to finish.

Lastly, it seems Universal were kind enough to let the acapella and instrumental out into the open so you do have to wonder if they want some remixes done? Well, it looks like they might get some ! haha.. And it`s still not too late for an official remix competition..Or maybe the dry vocals will appear? Fun Fact: This track was released in 2001, making it nearly 19 years old.. and from their 4th Album. Time flies uh? Seems like only yesterday I was playing this in the middle of my “occasional” rock and party sets!
