I was going to post this video, as a “make up your own mind if classic tracks should be remixed in an upto date style or left alone” kind of thing, and I suppose it still will be the main theme of this little blog post.
It goes without saying Kygo has the multitrack for “Hot Stuff” along with maybe a few more.. who knows? Not me that`s for sure.. 😉 but it does go to show the “2020 Remix” (or whatever year) is still a thing. Only difference this decade we`re now getting music stems as well as the more traditionally leaked vocals only side of things. So happy days !
So what did/do you think to the mix? Good/Bad – Good Idea/Winner/Good luck to him.. or it “Shouldn`t have been touched.. it is sacred” !!!! Where are you on the scale?? haha . Answers on a postcard. Ideally to Kygo here.
And it probably is a fair bet there will be more remixes of classic tunes (and maybe some not so classic ones) in the pipeline right now as we speak going on. I know of 3, and thats only me lol.
Which brings us back round to the point of the post.. remixing old stuff, it`s something that will never end. It hasnt yet.. and as we move forward with more source material becoming available almost daily, I dont think the trend will be going away any time soon either. At least the record companies are being a bit more cool with things though as this is obvs an official release and what have you.. so, from where I`m typing, thats a major bonus for everybody. One would assume that if there ever was a time to get that “classic” multitrack pack and make a “remix” with upto date things in it, now is that time. Get that mix done, say hi to the big guns, and hope they like it. The door`s open guys it seems. Well, if you know somebody on the inside, but we`ll forget that bit and just hope talent wins through. Or I suppose it would help a bit if your profile was as big as Kygo`s, but hey, you never know. No harm in trying.
Either way, 8 Million views in 6 weeks. Not too shabby. Proof of concept right there.
Now if only the record companies could convince themselves to release more multitracks, wouldn`t that just be dandy?

Moby Multitrack Masterpost
Got asked to do a Moby Masterpost, so here it is. btw, if there`s any of the bigger artists I`ve not covered in the Masterpost series (plz check on the Masterposts Page), let me know.
Also, while I`m here.. we do seem to have a small team of “crack multitrack restorers” (if you like) coming to the fore..so I may, or may not be, on the hunt for someone to recreate a multitrack of the full version of “Go” with the remix parts listed below. If thats you plz do let me know 😉 Or, Mr Moby, Please send. 🙂 Or, someone else should do a remix of Go with full orchestral arrangement with lots of strings n stuff.

Another busted multi pack here, so welcome another request for anyone having the full pack to come forward.. 😉 from what I`m hearing from my own information society is that everyone has the same busted pack, so the “real” pack this came from could be quite rare.. if it can be found.
Luckily, the stems have been named and you`d hope someone reaaaallly smart could work out whats missing and recreate things!!

While searching for a video for Linda Cliffords “Repossessed” I stumbled across the Reflex Revisions really really nice version of it, and I kinda wondered why I haven`t brought this guy up before now. He is probably half the reason I dont do re-masters/revisions, and thats the other half of reason why I choose to use multi`s in a very different way.. I`d rather “Jack”, than Fleetwood Mac tbh. Not saying I dont totally appreciate multi`s in their “raw” state tho..

There`s loads of new versions of classic multitracks mixed from their original form (or revised) to listen to with all the upto date nice mixing tekkers & processing on them ect.. and if your a little bit sneaky, you can look what he`s mixed to possibly know what multitracks may be out there. Like I just did.. Let`s hope a few are circulating 😉 So, if anybody has any of the source multitracks used in the RR mixes, do let me know.

I mean, c`mon you`ll get a free write up and a link out if you do 😉 Just dont make it a complete P.I.T.A to get the stems which sometimes is the way with these things, and you`ll get some great publicity, I`m sure 😉
