Either way, congrats to Mariah for finally getting that number 1 in the U.K with A.I.W.F.C 26 years after it`s initial release where it only previously managed a number 2. Apparently it was a bit of a squeeze with East 17 just landing in the top slot.

Fuser Released !
Been an interesting few days behind the scenes.. amongst other things I`ve been dusting off the old streaming equipment, just in case its needed anytime soon, and doing the old updating software you havent used for about 4 years kinda thing, because.. Fuser is coming out. And by the time you read this it probably will be out. Not that I`m clock watching. And even though I`m trying to avoid getting a copy of this for fun, I probably will end up getting it for research purposes.
You see, Ive been viewing a few streams of this game on Twitch recently.. for research purposes, dont you know, and everytime, there`s something new that catches my eye.. to the extent of maybe just a level below “Jaw Dropping”.. or at least somewhere `round that level. Due to the said “research” I get the feeling that this game is probably going to be even better than I expected.. and looks like theres some serious depth to it in places. Your main thoughts as you play through I guarantee will be “oh, it does that does it, ok, thats cool” followed by “whoa, you can do that too”? ect..
As you can see I`m dying to spoil it for everyone. But I cant. Just cant. And for sure I dont want to even try and explain all the mechanics used to play 4 different parts of a song together with 4 parts of any of about 100 songs and how they magically all gel together (nearly) with all the pitch correction and key change malarky going on.
Lets just say it looks like a few programs like Recycle, Melodyne & Mixed In Key all had a bit of a party and gave birth the morning after. To something.. And if you are familiar with Harmonix`s previous outing “Dropmix”, you`ll know all about that wizardry already. “All now at the touch of a button”.. as some reviews would say.
The good news is that every review Ive also read about Fuser is pretty much clueless as to what this “game” is actually all about partly because the review copies are limited to certain modes and songs (I believe), but mainly because they simply wont have had time to learn the game and what it becomes later down the line when you have gained a very deep knowledge of the entire software. You might even need some skill in places. And a bit of studio knowledge wont hurt either,by the looks of things.
I`ll leave it there for now, tempted to spoil further but there`s heaps of streams on Twitch atm, so you can get a better idea from watching a few of those if you wish, but every glance will contain a spoiler or two, so thats up to you. I`ll leave this first post about Fuser as short as poss, but here are a few quotes from Harmonix themeselves I copied and pasted from some recent Twitch chats..

Turned out a pretty powerful loop in reality I guess, so needs something with a bit of “balls” if you like to go with it, but the key is nice and fits with many things so should come in handy for the DJ`s amongst us. One day.

Clean Bandit Ft. Kesha – Tick Tock Tik Tok (Mash Up)
Rule number 1 of Mash Up making: Always check any obvious pairing so you get “a great title” for your Mash Up from the off. It must be “witty” in some way. That`s the rule. Then we hope and pray the acapella and instrumental could maybe work together in some way at least, and that both the key & bpm is somewhat similar. In that order.
Maybe thats just me (lol) but I couldn`t help but notice Clean Bandit have a new track out called Tick Tock, and as the instrumental recently landed, there was only one pella that was going to get checked within minutes. Got to say I wasn`t holding out much hope because, a, I`m not that lucky, and b, it just wouldn`t be that easy on first try.. would it ? Never works like that.
Well, call me Mr Surprised-a-lot cos it kinda did work out. Even though the Clean Bandit track is 101 Bpm and Kesha`s vocal was 120 Bpm, they do sort of go. At 105 Bpm. It`s not perfect, but it`ll pass in a bar when everyones had a few drinks! which frankly, is usually the yardstick best worked to on the cheesy stuff.
Dunno how long it`ll last on Soundcloud, but here it is for a quick listen if you want.

One last thing.. I`m sure I had the stems for Kesha`s Tik Tok, as in 100% sure, but I cant for the life of me find them.I usually double/triple back up, but not in this case it seems. Now I know they were rare back in the day, and I think they may still be now, but luckily, I know there`s a few old skool Kesha fans in our midst, so here`s a request for the Tik Tok stems if anyone has a copy? Myself and the community would appreciate.ty.
One other last thing, [DISCLAIMER]: I was in no way butthurt/jealous or inspired into making this Mash Up by the last most excellent “official mash up” by Clean Bandit, which I really really liked, which, when I played it to someone they said ” sounds like you did it”. So I wasn`t butthurt at all. Not one bit. just sayin 🙂

Bit of a novelty this one, so worthy of a post and a plug ! An actual somewhat official Becky Hill & Sigala Studio Acapella is doing the rounds it seems.. And still no one knows where all the other Sigala (and similar) stuff is hiding?? (Please get in touch if you do).
Great track tho so do check it out.. and the pella is nice too even if it does get a little “busy” towards the end if you know what I mean. Absolutely a case for releasing any acapellas to DJ`s & remixers in say a 6-10 pack of Vocal Stems or something, with wets and drys. PLEASE !!!! (all of the time..) Would make a world of difference.
Because, I`ve had an hour on this and is actually a great tune to remix. It`s a nice tempo (125) nice key and it does offer up some nice progressions along the way. It`s all very nice. So, do have a go at it even if you`re a bit 50/50. (You`ll get a spot on backing track for something else if you dont get far into finishing anyway).(lol).
All the same, solid acapella to have around maybe for reference, and of course great for a Mash Up (in this form).. they do seem to be all the rage again, so why not 🙂

Where to start with Zedd? I`ve been a fan a while tbh, rated right up there with my more favoured EDM producers. Really talented guy.. and now all nicely signed up with Universal, feet under the carpet ECT.., so one would expect some more nice new compositions. Soon please.
Speaking of which, the new single. Not what I was expecting in all honesty, but it sort of fits into the current style of EDM/Pop quite nicely. Not a million miles away (musically) from what you might find on Dua Lipa`s Future Nostalgia. In fact you could throw this instrumental right in the middle of the Dua Lipa FN Insts and you`d be hard pressed to tell any difference.. (He`s that good).
Check out the video to Funny here . It is actually really funny. Very creative and safe to say its kinda inspired by the recent “lockdown” and Zoom streams ..sort of thing. Great video tho from start to finish.

Lastly, it seems Universal were kind enough to let the acapella and instrumental out into the open so you do have to wonder if they want some remixes done? Couldn`t resist putting this pack together for any would be Mash Up makers that like “excessive titling” in the title of their creations.. count me in there..
Included in this pack is also all the component parts and the mixdown of the Mash Up you can see in the Soundcloud player above. It`s only a “sketchbook” mix as I call em, as in a sketch compared to a finished drawing. If that makes sense. Made I think in about 2017 with the DIY acapella.

Fuser Game Multitracks/Stems/Acapellas/Instrumentals
Dont know if any of you are aware yet of a video game coming out in the Fall/Autumn of 2020 called “FUSER” ??

It`s a bit like DJ Hero / Drop Mix from what I gather, so I for one will be in there (more than likely) on day of release, because, frankly, I`m a sucker for music based video games. (No surprise there uh)?
The game will be available on both Sony`s & Microsoft`s consoles (whichever they may be at the time I suppose) AND on the Nintendo Switch (Yay). I`ll more than likely wait till a few reviews though to see which platform I`ll get this on.
If motion controls are involved for the Switch (Hi Devs) I`ll go that way, otherwise it`ll be X-Box.
(any advance code received guarantees a write up) just sayin.
Anyway, come release, I`m planning on streaming Fuser (on Twitch.tv) , so everyones will be invited 😉 .. and there will be a stickied page on the site, and maybe a twitter post regarding when I`m going live with any streams. So, keep a look out on here nearer the release date.
Some information on the game is already out there, so it`s pretty easy to clue yourself up as to what`s coming and what songs there are going to be in the game at launch*…before the inevitable DLC gets released ! That`s probably what I`m looking forward to the most thqh.The initially listed song selection is a bit meh for me (so far), but I`m sure other people will love it. Only a small selection of tracks have been named as yet but there are supposed to be around 100 songs coming at launch. If there is any more news on track listings I`ll update this post or make a new one to keep folk “in the loop”.

Harmonix’ Dan Sussman said “that as with past Harmonix games, songs from bands closely associated with Harmonix employees will likely also appear on the full setlist. Sussman also said that for music licensing purposes, they assured that the rights for these songs not only include the ability to mix with other songs, but for users to share these songs and mixes to social media“.
