All good tho, Ariana Grande, the current record holder of the most coveted title ever to exist “the artist with the most stem sets ever released into the wild”, has a new single out.
No official stems as yet.
Which is a shame.
Wonder how long it will be before we see the actual stems packs for new songs being released at the same time the single hits You Tube and Spotify ect.. ? Officially. Maybe an albums worth at a time. Not to be too greedy. Or even to help with the promo around the release of a new LP or single. That`d be cool. Yeah, the stems might leak, but since AI can do the job in seconds these days, cant see no harm.
Anyway, I digress from the off. New Ariana track has arrived and its kinda a cocktail of “house music”. Tastefully done. 90`s flavoured with a dash of 80`s. 909 drums throughout, and sounds a bit like a certain Madonna record, but I`m not quite sure which one(s). Vogue, most probably for starters. Then there`s also a vocal hook in there too, which, brain 100% knows, but cant come up with artist & title. You`ll know which bit when you hear it. One of those type of tracks. It`s songs like this that stick in your head and can be quite dangerous if not listened to sparingly. You should probably avoid listening to it entirely, just to be safe.
AI stems and the instrumental have leaked already and many folk are heavily anticipating a stems or ProTools leak within days. (I`m guessing ProTools). So bear with on that.
At this point Ari, please find a way to “officially release” your sessions. Your fans are really into em. Officially. Since AI can do the job in seconds, cant see no harm.

Adele vs Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams (Rolling In The Deep) (Mash Up Pack)
Impromptu Mash Up Competition time again !
Couldnt resist putting a pack together for these two tracks. As you may or may not know, the two do “kinda go” in the key/progression and even arrangement departments..and the pair have featured in a a fair few Mash Ups and “remixes of sorts” over the years. All of them have been worthy of a listen while prepping this post, and in each one if you go on a searching mission, you may notice many similarities, and yet some differences, but all on a theme. The theme being the same two tunes being used for a remix or a Mash Up..
But, as good as those mixes are, there could be room for a little upgrade to the works already out there. Seems most of the Mash Ups currently floating about on the web all used the Adele (Studio Acapella) of R.O.T.D and an instrumental of Sweet Dreams with backing vocals. Perish the thought. The mixes I`ve listened thru vary from 2009 upto 2020 which leaves imo, plenty of room for an updated version or three. Maybe even more. Why not. Every DJ worth their salt will want to do their own “special DJ mix” for their sets surely, if they get the feels for revisiting such a dare I say it “classic” or maybe a future classic mash.
And because we are approx ten years down the road from when these two singles were released, and Acapellas & Instrumentals have been improved upon by Stems & AI, in the CR Mash Up Pack, the materials available now to remixers are of much higher quality, which makes things a bit tastier & much easier when it comes to (re)creating that future legendary Mash Up of which you are about to make. For instance, the “new” Sweet Dreams instrumental doesn`t have the BV`s there spoiling things, and the Adele vocal is all now split into lots of very handy stems. That`s an improvement right there from what the OG Mash Up makers had to use. Then, if you so choose, you could maybe add a few musical bits and bobs from the actual Adele stems pack for Rolling In The Deep. Add a bit of a sprinkling of pixie dust, et voila.
Before I forget – the semi serious bit. For the AI nerds amongst us and the curious, both Sweet Dreams packs are worthy of a listen on their own, and together, especially if you want to have a quick listen to how things are moving on in the “AI filtering world”, and how much the quality is improving, and how quickly, more to the point.
The first pack (the MP3`s one) was created only maybe a couple of months ago. The newer WAV pack was created from “AI software” that is made with “new techniques” that are apparently much more recent. As in there`s been only a 2 months gap between these packs being made..recently. Wow. Things move fast ! And we know both guys a have done their absolute bestest on these filters, (not knocking anyone here), so personally, I think its pretty cool everyone can get to hear in almost real time, how AI filtering is improving so much and how its doing so, so quickly.
btw, thanks and shouts out to the guys making these AI packs. Hope to see many more. Definately a new niche growing nicely around AI in the stems scene for sure. More power to you all I say. Literally. Giga tons..Its not as though there isnt enough to keep everyone super busy for a while yet is it?
OK guys, dont forget, aaaall you have to do to win the “Rolling in the Sweet Dreams” CR Mash Up Contest is to be the first to get your production finished & out there with an added “2023” on the end of the title. Spose it`d help if it was the biggest and freshest thing out there tbh, but as long as its on a par with the other versions, but a little more upto date, you`ll be fine, I`m sure, and have an “internet AI type hit” on your hands. If there`s plenty of interest in your creation feel free to ask David Guetta to do a “remix” maybe (he`ll want to do one anyway) and you`re all set for a chunk of stardom. The labels will love you. Clearanco no problemo. Just dont mention anything about AI being involved if poss. In case your new banger becomes a big hit on You Tube and Tik Tok, Spotify, and Soundcloud and goes viral in two days . So, careful with that one. 😉
Thinkin about it, maybe its safer to just finally do that bootleg remix of “Sweet Dreams” you`ve always wanted to do.

Spandau Ballet – True (4 AI Stems & Midi)(44.1k-16bit)
Unless you have been locked in a room with an 80`s band recording a comeback album, you cant have failed to notice the rise of AI. And that`s putting it mildly. It`s here & it`s not going away anytime soon.
Along with just the mildly mind blowing “personal assistant” thing it does, AI it seems, has another twist in its tail to tell. From what Im seeing, that stems quite heavily around music. It can do all sorts of funky stuff.
And there`s plenty of examples if you look around the web. The music side of AI is quite the rabbit-hole.
Without going into each area where AI is and will be affecting the music business too much in one go here, however tempting it is to do, for now, I`d just like to stick to what is going on with the AI stems filtering side of things. Because, I think there`s a chance many a lost multitrack may “rise from the dead” to be reconstructed or deconstructured (depending on your bias) from the final commercially released mix/masters. Right now, from the results we`ve already seen, drums, bass, vocals and instruments can all be seperated out quite readily from, well, anything. To a degree.
And its the “to a degree” that is going to be the foreseeable problem, or I suppose, already is. It`s the “mid range” instruments that look like the troublemakers. Splitting brass, strings, pianos, organs, rhodes ect, into single AI stems, at the moment, is asking quite a lot. Unless that`s already happening and I missed the memo. But, good news again is that AI and all that it brings to the music scene is thankfully, only going to get better. That means all these AI stem packs are going to sound cleaner and clearer, with less and less “artifacts” as things naturally progress in the field. In a nutshell.
So possibly sooner than we thought possible, we may have stem sets (of a sort) from all those 60`s,70`s & 80`s gems that there arent even any original multitracks for. Just think how much material has been lost because the original tape reels have perished over time, or gone up in smoke in that fire, all those missing master tapes, and DATS that .. I best stop, but I think you will get the point. AI could actually be the saving grace. One day, that 16 track “AI Multitrack” version of Jocelyn Brown`s “Somebody Else`s Guy” might just land in your inbox.
Which brings me not so swiftly round to another 80`s classic that did appear in the inbox recently, with a note attached saying “you need to hear this”. And yeah, it`s a super piece of work we think, as hopefully you will have heard via the linked videos.
And I guess in another nutshell, Spandau Ballets “True” is now well and truly up for a spot of remixing and sampling. Though I do recall someone may have already beaten everyone to the punch on the exclusive sampling of “True” in the early 90`s. But now it`s 2023 and if you can get clearance once, why not again? hehe
