Ive a feeling the unofficial remix competitions are going to become a thing on CR.. 😉
Here comes another one..
The second track to feature as one of our “unofficial remix competitions” is one by Pink Pantheress, with a solid club tune called “Another Life” featuring Rena. The song itself runs at a fair old whack in the the BPM`s keeping true to the current resurgence of “break-beaty”[tm] infused tracks that are heavily rotating around the U.K`s club scene at the mo.
In the remixers pack youll find 42 stems to play with and some dry vocals to boot. Seems that the stem set was posted by the artist on her discord, but alas once again, sad face time, no remix competition for it. Which, is a shame.
So, being happy to be of service, we can do one on their behalf. I`m sure its just what was wanted anyway. If you wish to enter this “contest”, please download the stems, finish your remix and send to Pink Pantheress by the 25th of April 2024, by any means you can find, but probably best to try the discord.
btw people, if you come across some stems from one of your favourite artists, and you think the song would benefit from a few unofficial remixes from the CR crew, do send them in. Same goes for any producer/remixer/label who wants a free plug (of the week).

Originally thought this was from a remix competition when I came across it, but seems that is not the case, cos I checked. Which is a pity because it would make a really good remix competition thing. Solid tune, with great vocals, and plenty of synth parts to loop up, all inside a track that would adapt nicely to ANY form of dance music “genre” you could choose to remix it into.
And unfortunately, there`s no remix competition for this.

Also, while here.. just wanted to point out in case you missed it. When Yes And ? was officially released, there were 9 different official versions iirc. The new version with Mariah Carey (above) will make that 10. Each and every play, as you know, counts towards chart positions and all that good stuff.. so as number 1 singles go, I dont really recall many having 9 versions banged out from day 1.. recently, if not ever.. and thats including the “sped up version” lol. So Yes and ? has kinda set a precedent as to what you can add to a playlist to get more plays/counts. I`d go so far to call it “a bit of a first”.
Secondly, I`m fairly sure this wont be the last time an artist does this. There`s one or two more that have kinda done the same from what Im seeing at first glance, but need to do more homework before news is brought on that, but there`s hints Beyonce is on the case releasing an official acapella and instrumental which you could say “counts”.
To quickly summarise, if this M/O continues, which I expect it will have to, it will bring many acapellas and instrumental versions of a track out into the wild officially, which is great, so less need to go hunting, or making them with AI. Which is probably why the acapellas and instrumentals are all of a sudden getting released.. cos people can make em anyway, upload them, and get the YouTube hits instead of the artists/labels. And in a world where 500 hits is the difference between a number 1 smash and a number 2 chart position, every vote counts.
Future-wise (if only we were) it all sort of points to either a new way to count plays, or there`ll be a flood of tunes doing exactly what Ari just did “to get the numbers up”. Counting the hits on YouTube,Spotify,Tik Tok ect will have a whole new meaning when the numbers quadruple in a year.
Imagine you have yourself a catchy acoustic track. You only have 3 other instruments in the song accompanying your vocals. With the Ariana M/O [TM] you can release your radio mix, an acapella, and instrumental, and the 3 guys playing drums, guitars and keys. That`s 6X-ing your possible plays/counts. No brainer when this catches on fully.
And to quickly summarise the summary, where does this all go next? When the artists/labels have run out of pellas & insts and sped up versions to bump the numbers ?

Tasty new dance track from Kim Petras has just arrived, so good excuse as any for yet another plug of the week. Seems to be a song about fixing some broken tyres or wheels on a car, sung from a mechanics point of view I guess, from what I can make out. Odd subject to sing about, but catchy all the same. Hot Club Remixes going “Under The Radar”
U2 – Atomic City (David Guetta Remix)
Been an interesting week or two where Ive happened to come across several tunes that sample some well known tracks quite heavily.. so decided to post a few for you guys to check out. Added a couple more “under the radar” ones that caught the eye too. Dont think any of these have hit the charts yet, some already should have, some probably never will..
So there`s a new U2 song out.. some say, its one of their better most recent songs. I was originally half expecting Atomic City to have a slight Blondie flavour even before I heard the tune funnily enough..and I wasnt to be disappointed after a little “ecouter”. Turned out to be a totally different Blondie song to what was expected tho. The chorus is all “Call Me”. Very funny David. Point scored !

Didnt see this one coming.. a live mash up with an orchestra ! Rick mashing his own hit record “Never Gonna Give You Up” with Ed Sheeran`s “Shape Of You”. OK, so its not exactly a “club remix”, but a, someone may make one, and b, just had to post it anyway.

All good tho, Ariana Grande, the current record holder of the most coveted title ever to exist “the artist with the most stem sets ever released into the wild”, has a new single out.
No official stems as yet.
Which is a shame.
Wonder how long it will be before we see the actual stems packs for new songs being released at the same time the single hits You Tube and Spotify ect.. ? Officially. Maybe an albums worth at a time. Not to be too greedy. Or even to help with the promo around the release of a new LP or single. That`d be cool. Yeah, the stems might leak, but since AI can do the job in seconds these days, cant see no harm.
Anyway, I digress from the off. New Ariana track has arrived and its kinda a cocktail of “house music”. Tastefully done. 90`s flavoured with a dash of 80`s. 909 drums throughout, and sounds a bit like a certain Madonna record, but I`m not quite sure which one(s). Vogue, most probably for starters. Then there`s also a vocal hook in there too, which, brain 100% knows, but cant come up with artist & title. You`ll know which bit when you hear it. One of those type of tracks. It`s songs like this that stick in your head and can be quite dangerous if not listened to sparingly. You should probably avoid listening to it entirely, just to be safe.
AI stems and the instrumental have leaked already and many folk are heavily anticipating a stems or ProTools leak within days. (I`m guessing ProTools). So bear with on that.
At this point Ari, please find a way to “officially release” your sessions. Your fans are really into em. Officially. Since AI can do the job in seconds, cant see no harm.

No prizes for guessing which two famous tunes have gone together to make this brand new mashup which is turning out to be a bit of an overnight success. Congrats to one of the old hands, Mr Bill McClintock. 90k views overnight.. 100k, by the time you read this.. guess you`d take that.
And it all kinda works, as Mash Ups go. 10 out of 10 for the essential creative titling, AND both tunes work together really well. Jobs a good un, as they say. Check it out for yourselves. Or, even better (maybe, if thats your thing) have a go at recreating this work for yourself with the very timely CR Mash Up pack !
Also, been thinking a while about posting more Mash Ups like this that are lurking on You Tube, as there are actually some real corkers out there. If any of our members want in, you`ll get yourself a gratis “plug of the week” too, just HMU with a link to the You Tube video of your Mash up. Also. lil shout out to Grimes anyways for doing what she does lol… Love it. For those unaware, Grimes is getting heavily involved with AI, and especially with the music side of things. Which, maybe we will be covering in greater detail soon, so I`ll leave that one for now. Just go look on her twitter and you`ll be able to follow the clues so to speak on the topic.

Going to squeeze a re-up in with the first “Plug of the Week” that we`ve had in a hot minute and a half.. Time for the first “plug of the week” of the year. There`s been a couple of maybe`s up for the honour, but patience was needed it seems. This week then, the award goes to another Mash Up ! Yes, another one, and yes, its got Britney Spears in it again too, and yes, this is another song/Mash Up that has been officially released, as recently as last Friday. It does indeed seem the current trend of just doing a mix and mash of whatever takes your fancy and seeing if you can get it signed, may well be carrying on very much in the same vein as 2021/2.
So good news all around. If you like making and listening to stuff like this that is lol.
The song itself “Toxic Las Vegas”, if you hadnt worked it out already, takes elements from Elvis`s “Viva Las Vegas” & Britneys “Toxic”. There was a version of the track in the recent “Elvis” movie written by Baz Luhrmann amongst others, which became a hit with fans, but the song used in the film didnt have any Britney vocals in. Until, Baz and his engineer Jamieson Shaw (apparently) decided to go full on Elton and make a chart topper mash up thingy.
As Elvis & Britney are/were on different record labels, just want to point out how great it is to see Warner & RCA get their heads together with all the licensing and stuff to get this project off the ground, so big ups n props to them for doing so. If this is not the worlds biggest heads up to producers that anything goes in 23, I dont know what is.
