No prizes for guessing which two famous tunes have gone together to make this brand new mashup which is turning out to be a bit of an overnight success. Congrats to one of the old hands, Mr Bill McClintock. 90k views overnight.. 100k, by the time you read this.. guess you`d take that.
And it all kinda works, as Mash Ups go. 10 out of 10 for the essential creative titling, AND both tunes work together really well. Jobs a good un, as they say. Check it out for yourselves. Best get a Grimes Masterpost underway.. not too many stems to start with here, but 100% there are more out there. If you know where they are, please get in touch so we can build this archive asap. Also. lil shout out to Grimes anyways for doing what she does lol… Love it. For those unaware, Grimes is getting heavily involved with AI, and especially with the music side of things. Which, maybe we will be covering in greater detail soon, so I`ll leave that one for now. Just go look on her twitter and you`ll be able to follow the clues so to speak on the topic.

This is a good one.
Mae Muller, the U.K entrant for this years Eurovision song contest in Liverpool with the song “I Wrote a Song”, which you can see and hear below, seems to have a slice of musical history of the interesting variety. Highlights include her being the star in Mika`s video for “Grace Kelly” and in some new found info, seems she has also once supported Little Mix at the same Liverpool arena which will be used to host Eurovision 2023. A loose connection, but I`ll take it.
NGL, in the interests of saving time, here`s a few quotes from The Express. Fair play for an interesting article you can read more of here, but in a nutshell, here`s some of the choice lines:

Mae previously performed in the iconic venue when she supported none other than X Factor girl group Little Mix on their 2019 stadium tour.
“I have been to Liverpool a few times,” Mae confirmed in an interview.
“I was actually there when I supported Little Mix on tour and we did like three shows at the arena. So I’m definitely looking forward to going back.”
Mae’s team-up with Little Mix came after she released her debut studio album, Chapter 1, on April 5 of that same year.

Following on from their string of previous hit singles circa 2006/7, in 2013, the German trio Cascada comprising of singer Natalie Horler, and producers DJ Manian and Yanou, made it all the way to the Eurovision final representing their country with a song called “Glorious”, but only managed a 21st place finishing spot after becoming an early favourite to win in that year.

Originally released in 1987, Italian singer Spagna`s “Call Me” was one of the “Eurodance” smashes doing the rounds at at the back end of the 80`s, peaking at number two in the charts in Italy and the UK. Spagna also entered the Eurovision song contest in 2022 with a song entitled “Seriously in Love”, for San Marino, but failed to make it throught the qualifying rounds.
San Marino is a really small country, yet in 2023, they had over a 1000 applications for artists wanting to compete for them. The country also has a motoring “Grand Prix” every year, and is supposed to be a nice place to live.

British rock band – Katrina and the Waves, sorry to say, are not appearing at Eurovision this year. Which is a shame because it would have been their second time. They first entered the contest in 1997 with “Love Shine A Light” and won ! This was the last time the UK won Eurovision.

Got to give Frankie Goes to Hollywood a shout too for coming out of “retirement” for a quick gig. The Liverpool band played “Welcome To The Pleasure Dome” for loads of Eurovision fans recently, stirring up all kinds of reunion rumours and talk of a “comeback”. Well, doing your first live performance in over 3 and a half decades probably will start the rumour mill up a bit.
Hope the boys are willing to give it a pop though.. No need to go nuts with a new album, just a few underground gigs here and there, that sort of thing. Maybe leave the Trevor Horn phone call for a while too. Did pick up a gem from the BBC news tho, apparently Holly Johnson seems kinda keen to get something going with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and sort of hinted at a recording or doing a concert with them doing the whole Pleasuredome album, in a way not dissimilar to what Zedd did with an Orchestra a while back.
Heard worse ideas.

There is some news to bring.. 8 years after a court battle ensued around who wrote a piece of music, a decision has been made that Ed Sheeran isnt the bad guy after all, and his song is not based around someone else`s song. 8 years. Thats a loooong time for any artist to have to deal with something of this nature and still be creative and get stuff out there.
Nice timing on the ending of the court case anyways for Ed here too since he has a new album out soon and a tour starting this weekend to concentrate on now, coincidentally. Im sure a few shandies tonight, Ed will have a clear head tomorrow to crack on further with his carreer and write more songs about castles and stuff. Seriously tho, I hope this is the last time we see such court cases like this as we all pretty much know [in the biz] and half accept that music is plagarism in one way or another.. or should we call it “inspiration” haha.
One thing we can look forward to tho is that if there are any more legal cases come up like this, there wont be any 8 years wait for an outcome. AI will be running that particular show and you can bet the outcome of any decision made by AI might raise a few eyebrows when it spits out a list of the other 10 songs that secretly nicked the same ideas 5, 10, 15 years ago, or brings up a counter point on the track doing the accusing. Popcorn time that`ll be.
So to mark the occasion of Ed`s innocence, thought it would be a good idea to throw a pack together in case anyone wants to make a celebratory and very timely Mash Up.

Impromptu Mash Up Competition time again !
Couldnt resist putting a pack together for these two tracks. As you may or may not know, the two do “kinda go” in the key/progression and even arrangement departments..and the pair have featured in a a fair few Mash Ups and “remixes of sorts” over the years. All of them have been worthy of a listen while prepping this post, and in each one if you go on a searching mission, you may notice many similarities, and yet some differences, but all on a theme. The theme being the same two tunes being used for a remix or a Mash Up..
But, as good as those mixes are, there could be room for a little upgrade to the works already out there. Seems most of the Mash Ups currently floating about on the web all used the Adele (Studio Acapella) of R.O.T.D and an instrumental of Sweet Dreams with backing vocals. Perish the thought. The mixes I`ve listened thru vary from 2009 upto 2020 which leaves imo, plenty of room for an updated version or three. Maybe even more. Why not. Every DJ worth their salt will want to do their own “special DJ mix” for their sets surely, if they get the feels for revisiting such a dare I say it “classic” or maybe a future classic mash.
And because we are approx ten years down the road from when these two singles were released, and Acapellas & Instrumentals have been improved upon by Stems & AI, in the CR Mash Up Pack, the materials available now to remixers are of much higher quality, which makes things a bit tastier & much easier when it comes to (re)creating that future legendary Mash Up of which you are about to make. For instance, the “new” Sweet Dreams instrumental doesn`t have the BV`s there spoiling things, and the Adele vocal is all now split into lots of very handy stems. That`s an improvement right there from what the OG Mash Up makers had to use. Then, if you so choose, you could maybe add a few musical bits and bobs from the actual Adele stems pack for Rolling In The Deep. Add a bit of a sprinkling of pixie dust, et voila.
Before I forget – the semi serious bit. For the AI nerds amongst us and the curious, both Sweet Dreams packs are worthy of a listen on their own, and together, especially if you want to have a quick listen to how things are moving on in the “AI filtering world”, and how much the quality is improving, and how quickly, more to the point.
The first pack (the MP3`s one) was created only maybe a couple of months ago. The newer WAV pack was created from “AI software” that is made with “new techniques” that are apparently much more recent. As in there`s been only a 2 months gap between these packs being made..recently. Wow. Things move fast ! And we know both guys a have done their absolute bestest on these filters, (not knocking anyone here), so personally, I think its pretty cool everyone can get to hear in almost real time, how AI filtering is improving so much and how its doing so, so quickly.
btw, thanks and shouts out to the guys making these AI packs. Hope to see many more. Definately a new niche growing nicely around AI in the stems scene for sure. More power to you all I say. Literally. Giga tons..Its not as though there isnt enough to keep everyone super busy for a while yet is it?
OK guys, dont forget, aaaall you have to do to win the “Rolling in the Sweet Dreams” CR Mash Up Contest is to be the first to get your production finished & out there with an added “2023” on the end of the title. Spose it`d help if it was the biggest and freshest thing out there tbh, but as long as its on a par with the other versions, but a little more upto date, you`ll be fine, I`m sure, and have an “internet AI type hit” on your hands. If there`s plenty of interest in your creation feel free to ask David Guetta to do a “remix” maybe (he`ll want to do one anyway) and you`re all set for a chunk of stardom. The labels will love you. Clearanco no problemo. Just dont mention anything about AI being involved if poss. In case your new banger becomes a big hit on You Tube and Tik Tok, Spotify, and Soundcloud and goes viral in two days . So, careful with that one. 😉
Thinkin about it, maybe its safer to just finally do that bootleg remix of “Sweet Dreams” you`ve always wanted to do.

Not really a Masterpost in the true sense of the word, as there are no “official” stems or multitracks here, but the pack contains enough goodies to make one, since age of “making of AI stems” is well and truly upon us.
Also, if you are as unaware as 2/3rds Pink Floyd were, Roger Waters has been secretly re-recording DSOTM for some time, and only decided recently informing the other members of PF what he`s been up to may be a good idea.. and reading between the lines a bit, it looks like they are now somewhat onboard with the rework project too !
