This week, roughly about 50 years ago, apparently in a recording studio far far away in little known villiage in Wales UK, a band called Queen set about writing what would become something a little bit special.
Sources say Bohemian Rhapsody was then recorded by Queen and co-producer Roy Thomas Baker at five studios between August and September 1975. Not sure where. Not digging that deep today.
Fast forward those 50 years and we find ourselves in 2025 still blessed with the multitrack of the song Freddie and his pals recorded over an insanely busy 3 week recording period, and amongst other noteworthy things, like how the track was done in three separate “chunks” and glued together, its said that due to recording logistics of the era, the band had to bounce the tracks across eight generations of 24-track tape, meaning that they required nearly 200 tracks for overdubs. So the tapes started to wear a little thin. Lucky they got it all down n done uh?
If we actually look at the release date for Bo Rap it was October 31st 1975, which means that in approx 6 weeks, we have ourselves a bonafide anniversary of a seminal pop song.
Which can only mean one thing. The world must be about ready for some new 2025 remixes of the track ! Surely ??
And you know what that means. Time for another “unofficial remix contest”.
There obviously have been a fair few remixes done over the years as the multitrack has been available for a while, so going to link below one of the better ones, to give you guys a few ideas and maybe a little inspiration.
You could go housey, or drum n bass.. or anything in between.
Feel free to enter this unofficial remix contest and send over any new versions of Bo Rap straight over to Brian, whose well known in the business as a “totally good lad” and “super approachable”, and I`m sure he would just love to hear a zillion new remixes of Bo Rap.

OK, hold the front page. There is now such a thing as a “Remix Campaign“.
And you thought “Global Remix Challenge” was winning in the “let`s rename a remix contest (or competition) to something different for a change challenge” I mean, C`mon.. what next? Get that thesaurus out boys and girls.
And they used italics. and with parentheses. Is someone…. teasing ?!?!
Joking aside, and simply put, this is good news. All Good. I will now attempt to explain to you all what I think a Remix Campaign actually is, and how, in future, how one should be used. IMO. Get the popcorn out.
De La Soul ft. Chaka Khan – All Good – CAN 7 Supermarket Remix
But first, if you hadnt guessed, there`s a new Remix Campaign that`s recently been announced for the De La Soul & Chaka Khan track “All Good”. Which has now entered into our world. Yay. Been a couple of really cool mixes of it already from MJ Cole & Can 7 and it`s all good. Already.
Even so, De La Soul themselves, and presumably any associated label(s) are looking for more remixes of the tune, from anyone. ie: the rather large talent pool one might find on the internet (if you were to think about it for a bit). The good news is too, is that there is no end date for “The Campaign”. You just do your mix, send it to the boys when its all good and ready. See where it goes from there kinda vibe goin on.
Which then, if you think about it, the campaign itself, becomes a permanantly open door to De La Soul if you like remixing their tracks. Cant see the guys saying aint no go to a listen or two.. on something new, can you? nah.

Now the even better bit. IMO, this remix campaign thingy could truly be the way to go in the future for artists/labels & the producers like us, who likes to muck about with stems and multitracks and can play “a bit”. I will happily wield the death knell for the words remix contests and remix competitions willingly, if it is made so !
The key, you see, is to have no end date for the Campaign. That forces that open door. So, from here on in you guys, please, if youre going to use the word “Campaign” in this manner, there has to be no end date. Super Important.
This is a good thing. All good.
De La Soul ft. Chaka Khan – All Good – OG 7″ MIX
Now, imagine if a few artists with anniversaries of their songs released a stem pack to celebrate, say, going to number one 40 years ago, then they happened to offer a stem set in the remix campaign stylee to garner some new “remixes” for a more modern audience ie: for the interent to do its thing with, with a look to.. (wait for it) an actual release. Imagine all that, and it has to come with this much “hands on” to work. You get the the responses, the feedback and the contact building as a by product, almost. And it has to be operated with a very high degree of gusto as I`m sure De La Soul will. Much could be learnt from this little remix Campaign.. the first of many we`d hope. fingers crossed.

Also, dont forget, if you are new to all this DJ and remixin` malarky, there has always been an unwritten rule in the DJ/Remixing community that says, basically, at some point in your career, you have to at least have used the vocal in a mash up or a remix.
Or, you must either have mixed the the whole acapella (or bits of it) live (to actual people), say over an instrumental, or maybe scratched with it in a club.. or you must have sampled it at some point in your career. Stuff like that.
Thats the rule.. I didnt make it up. lìl reminder. Just sayin`.

Surprisingly, Madonna mailed in about the Papa Dont Preach & True Blue multitrack request, and in a nutshell, she said thanks for “the plug of the week” in regards to the remix challenge, (really helpful) she said. I was also told I have to stop being a “whiney little bitch” by requesting those two again for the 18th time. Must admit I have mentioned em a fair few times but didnt think its was that many.
erm, moving on.
With what I can assure you is not an article of fake news, we do now have a “real” scoop on our hands that got mentioned in the follow up phone call. Madge said that she is “keeping those two multis aside for a special occasion” (in 2026) ! A dual remix contest to celebrate 40 years since the release of both those singles.
The contest will join an ongoing promotion for: “The New Madonna Top 20 Greatest Hits Best Remix Album – Ever” [working title] which is pencilled in to drop March 2026. “The label [Warner Records] are looking for remixes right now cos I`m resigning with them again.. but shhhhh”.
So, not all bad news..our remixers get a little heads up, but nope we cant have those 2 multis.. but M did send a little pack over for our guys and gals to enjoy, hopefully remix, and send to the label for consideration.

Here’s a bit of news for all you collectors out there; an Atmos version of ‘Dare’ will be reissued on Blu-ray audio on 10th October this year and it will be available to pre-order for a limited time only exclusively from the Super Deluxe Edition shop.

To mark roughly 27 and a half years since the release of “Ray Of Light”, Madonna and our current favourite “releaser of stems into the wild” Warner Records, have decided to host a Global Remix Challenge (formerly known as a “Remix Contest”) hosted via Beatport.
Since our Madge is such a great girl and well into the remix scene herself it seems only fair that she is to be honoured with the official ClubRemixer “Plug Of The Week” award for bringing forth a remix contest of such a classic dance track.
This is what she had to say about the remix contest.. erm, challenge.
