Going to take just a little time to bring what has been decribed as a “classic” for years, to the fore.. Always was a big fan of this tune..I played it out loads, that`s for sure.. from what I can remember of 1992. And this was always one of those tracks I always wanted to remix, but never actually got round to doing.. The usual yearly thoughts still run round the grey matter thinking “Is this a good year to do that remix of Felix”.. and I`m starting to think it might be.
Also noticed, and this has nothing to do with things one bit, that the stems for this were only previously available as MP3, and I was sure I had better. Well, found em.
The MP3 pack also had surprisingly good numbers for such a low Q pack, so they may be a little remixing rumble around this song already.. and hey, if not, let`s create some !

Hey guys,
Lots to go through here so this is your early warning to go grab a cuppa or something.
It`s not that we have a problem, but recent events have given me an insight on how we can do things round here a little better. By sort of putting some ideas into the ruleset now tbh, as well.
Because I`m no admin dude, I`m falling just a tad behind on the mails recently as well.. so apologies on that, for starters.
I do my best to do all the mail in best time, but the recent surge in mail has actually given me a great idea.. So with the “mail in for info” posts we are going to take a new approach. I will explain.
As there may be more of these posts, I`d like you guys to do as you have been doing which is keep letting me know if you are interested in certain packs. Like EVERYBODY. (If poss). Believe it or not, this is how (in a way) trading at the higher level of the game goes, so its good practise. “Only gets what you really really want”. Really.
Now I know this is a good way (from experience) of working when it comes to rare multis, (not rocket science luckily) so I`m hoping to pass a little bit of this info on to you to think through. The days of hoarding may well be over.. and anyway, you got all those new content filled pages for that uh ? lol. (Hi Hugh).
Before I digress, the “mail in” posts. Pretty sure they are staying. With them, I can judge much easier, whether the buy group has any interest in a certain files, even before it has been purchased. I never thought to do this. The first buy group I kinda hope knows whats going on, because I`ve had chance to explain it to most of them, or they`ve worked things out, (hopefully), but the majority of you guys, the mid tier, I`m thinking all this may be a bit confusing.
So more explanation. I was actually in the process of starting to mail out to the long term members (3 months and over) about how you can obtain these “mystery” files, but I think its going to be waaaay easier to do it here and in one go.
To explain in a roundabout way, I`m thinking its time we started up the second buy group. I was going to mail everyone who is a long term supporter, but much much easier and quicker this way ! So if you joined us before August 2020 and you want to upgrade, which automatically enrolls you in the second buy group and gives you access to the Protools page, you can. Like many of you are now doing, I dont mind at all anwering any questions you might have, so, do drop me a mail if this is something you would maybe consider.. obvs, I cant put too many deets here you know?
Digressed.. that was supposed to be coming later. Anyway. There`s more:
Top Tier Buy Group Guys: If you see a “mail in” post on the main page, if we have it, you can have it, but it counts as a file for that months allocation. That includes any pack that may be “incomplete”, as well as the good stuff. If we dont have the file, and it`s on the “maybe” purchase list, please still vote for the file. When there`s 2 or 3 votes, we will make moves to secure the file. You`ll know by the usual means when the file has been secured.
Brand new Top Tier Guys: If you joined/upgraded recently and you are not involved with the initial purchase group, you are automatically enrolled into the second purchase group. Please get in touch.
Mid Tier Guys: If you see a “mail in” post on the main page, if we have it, you probably cant have it, yet. This will be a file the IPG bought. As mentioned above, if you joined the site before August, you can upgrade and join the buy group. Then you can access the file. If we dont have the file, (I know you dont know this), please still show interest in it because your vote will still count. And it will help the whole collective from buying the wrong stuff nobody wants. Even if you are a newbie mid tier guy with less than 3 months with us, please still vote. And you know, your time will come.
The downside of all this is I may not be able to respond to all the mails, so again, apologies, but the plan is to make a folder for each song I notify you guys about, and place all the mails in there, till either a, we get the file, or b, it becomes ready to issue on the 2nd of the month.. I think we have the M/O pretty much nailed now with the first buy group (thanks guys especially) so we should be all good on group 2 and the way of voting for the actual purchases. Not all purchases will be posted on the main page while we trial this out.btw. Keep checking the ProTools page for news on new stuff.
Oops, I almost forgot. The rare files page has finally been updated/revamped and thoroughly been sorted out with complete rules and regs and less winging it. Sad to report that most of the bass is missing apart from two small-ish sections. Just going through a few packs here and there to see what we actually have kicking about, while at the same time, my attention was brought to a certain missing kick drum track in the Pet Shop Boys “Heart” Multitrack.
Kinda gave me an idea for a post, so here goes:
Missing kick drums and other anomalies within some multitracks, or, “dodgy files you might get off the internet”, surprisingly, is not a new thing. This is exactly why we need loads of official web sites with the complete and full versions of stuff we can buy. In a nutshell..
Turned out a short post after all, but gets the point across !

Now there`s a few words I wasnt expecting to type any time soon .. Strictly Background Instrumentals Volume 14.
For those not in the know, quite a few years back, Universal put out some promo instrumental CD sets, which were meant for TV and radio use mainly.. but a few found their way on to a well known auction site.. some in more numbers than others sometimes, and there was one that was always somewhat elusive.. the legendary Vol 14.
I honestly never thought I`d see this, but in a very short time, one of my random requests has been filled by one of the regulars in very short time, so going to add this to the other 15 volumes on the INSTS A-Z page here.
Now all we need is Universal to get busy on Volume 17, and everything in the world will be at peace again. Or, they could just release one copy on Ebay for the fun of it, and make even more people go “collector crazy” for another 6 years..

Hey Gang,
These months just keep coming round soooo quick ! Once again guys, mega thanks for your continued support, and here`s another chance to send a warm welcome to the newbies too 🙂
It might not look it, but I managed to quite a lot done last month and somehow found time to roll out a quick Mash Up. All on the list (I still use lists – on paper) got nailed and I started early on this months work. If you haven`t already noticed, there`s a new page called “Accs”.. And as I hope you`ll guess thats where the Acapellas and Studio Acapellas are going to live from now on. I`m 50/50 on adding the vocal stems to the page when they get their time to shine too. The Vocal Stems page update is pencilled in for next month, but we`ll see how we go on that.
Speaking of being 50/50 on something, I`m also 50/50 on starting up a new page for Cover Version Stems and Multitracks/Fan Made multis ect.. I know from previous experience, shall we say, that sometimes these things can be really valuable to bands and singers, (I have 100`s btw) and then there`s the fact to consider that sometimes a cover multitrack, that is, a song that is not in any “official” stem form.. is better than a big fat zero. (so the theory goes, something is better than nothing).
So I`m open to input from you guys on this.. have your say and let me know if this would interest you.
Also the instrumentals page has had a little update, and will be running in a very similar fashion to the Accs page, with compilation packs and the like, so do check out that page again, and the new Acapellas page if they interest you any.
Other than that, for the coming month, it will be more of the same and the usual stuff going on, on the pages. I managed to sort out all the files that havent been posted yet, into one main folder on the PC now, so that will be getting sorted asap. Bit of a mixed bag tbh, and that lot alone could keep me busy all month, but the focus is going to be primarily on the acapellas page. Was hoping to do a pack a day or something and I`m pleased to report, we`re already half way there !! Go see 🙂

Krunk! & Restricted ft. Kelly Matejcic – With You feat. Kelly Matejcic (Remix Competition)
Well, I said I`d keep an eye on the remix competition “scene” a little more.. quite glad I did now. Spinnin` Records do seem to be ruling the roost atm, on the comps side of things, and here`s another one of their best offerings.
Even had a little dabble on this too, mainly because I wanted the hear the vocal and piano, up a semitone if the truth be told.. and long story short, I`ve ended up with an arrangment (of sorts), basically, with every element of the original I liked.. so everything but drum and a bassline, 128 Bpm.
And pitched up 1 semitone ! Is that even allowed in remix competitions?
The competition stems are also of good quality, which is nice to see. There`s 4 separated packs of Vox/Fx/Synths/Drums which as a “stems pack” is also nice to see.. more of that please too. In fact the pack is very nearly approaching multitrack status, but no kick drum and everything being “wet” stops that. All the same, great stem set.

Clean Bandit Ft. Kesha – Tick Tock Tik Tok (Mash Up)
Rule number 1 of Mash Up making: Always check any obvious pairing so you get “a great title” for your Mash Up from the off. It must be “witty” in some way. That`s the rule. Then we hope and pray the acapella and instrumental could maybe work together in some way at least, and that both the key & bpm is somewhat similar. In that order.
Maybe thats just me (lol) but I couldn`t help but notice Clean Bandit have a new track out called Tick Tock, and as the instrumental recently landed, there was only one pella that was going to get checked within minutes. Got to say I wasn`t holding out much hope because, a, I`m not that lucky, and b, it just wouldn`t be that easy on first try.. would it ? Never works like that.
Well, call me Mr Surprised-a-lot cos it kinda did work out. Even though the Clean Bandit track is 101 Bpm and Kesha`s vocal was 120 Bpm, they do sort of go. At 105 Bpm. It`s not perfect, but it`ll pass in a bar when everyones had a few drinks! which frankly, is usually the yardstick best worked to on the cheesy stuff.
Dunno how long it`ll last on Soundcloud, but here it is for a quick listen if you want.

One last thing.. I`m sure I had the stems for Kesha`s Tik Tok, as in 100% sure, but I cant for the life of me find them.I usually double/triple back up, but not in this case it seems. Now I know they were rare back in the day, and I think they may still be now, but luckily, I know there`s a few old skool Kesha fans in our midst, so here`s a request for the Tik Tok stems if anyone has a copy? Myself and the community would appreciate.ty.
One other last thing, [DISCLAIMER]: I was in no way butthurt/jealous or inspired into making this Mash Up by the last most excellent “official mash up” by Clean Bandit, which I really really liked, which, when I played it to someone they said ” sounds like you did it”. So I wasn`t butthurt at all. Not one bit. just sayin 🙂

Becky Hill & Sigala – Heaven On My Mind (Studio Acapella)(44.1k-16bit)
Bit of a novelty this one, so worthy of a post and a plug ! An actual somewhat official Becky Hill & Sigala Studio Acapella is doing the rounds it seems.. And still no one knows where all the other Sigala (and similar) stuff is hiding?? (Please get in touch if you do).
Great track tho so do check it out.. and the pella is nice too even if it does get a little “busy” towards the end if you know what I mean. Absolutely a case for releasing any acapellas to DJ`s & remixers in say a 6-10 pack of Vocal Stems or something, with wets and drys. PLEASE !!!! (all of the time..) Would make a world of difference.
Because, I`ve had an hour on this and is actually a great tune to remix. It`s a nice tempo (125) nice key and it does offer up some nice progressions along the way. It`s all very nice. So, do have a go at it even if you`re a bit 50/50. (You`ll get a spot on backing track for something else if you dont get far into finishing anyway).(lol).
All the same, solid acapella to have around maybe for reference, and of course great for a Mash Up (in this form).. they do seem to be all the rage again, so why not 🙂

These days are flyin` uh?
Once again a big hello to the newbies and again my thanks for the continued support from you all. 🙂
Hoping you guys are liking the slight changes as to how we are doing things in regards to the style of posting on the main page. We now have a video plug in working well-ish.. so thats a keeper, and I hope you are enjoying the more “bloggy” posts too.
You might also have seen a couple of posts on the main page with a note to “mail in for more info” on them? Gonna take a little time to explain in more detail what these are to avoid any confusion. Or probably make more in reality lol. Some “info” posts will be posted as a “heads up” for the top tier guys, but mainly for the majority of you guys on the mid tier, this is also a way I can judge interest on a certain file before a release. And it`s popularity, or the lack of ! So a rough popularity contest in a way..kinda. So, (for now until I find a better way of doing this) this is how this will work: everytime you register interest in a file it will get logged along with all other requests for the pack, and when a release date is decided, you will be informed directly. In a nutshell. This is going to tie in with the “less live download links” thing from the last news fyi, which currently I see as an important thing we have to persue. Especially with the rarer files.
Feel free to log interest in as many files as you want, because the proposed release dates will differ, though they will probably be sometime early on in the month.
This might seem a confusing way of doing things, at first, but if you think it through, this way only the people really wanting a pack will mail in, which is how it seems to be working thanks to the small trial I`ve been running. Which is great. Proof of concept right there 🙂 It will also help keep the file much much rarer, which is always nice. And there`s no links on the site, which is the main winner.
You also need to know that these files will be a major part rare files page/idea at some point, and you also need to know that these rare files will have an allocation attached, even so, it is STRONGLY ADVISED to show your interest on a pack by all means, but please dont plan to hoard, because the RFP wont be working like that.
I hope you can all work out from that roughly how the “posts with no download links” are going to work and what they`re about! Thought it best to give you all an idea how this will be before I get to posting more “info” posts.. there may be quite a few coming ! Hopefully you`re now getting used to an ever evolving site lol.. no point stopping now !

The Blackbyrds – Walking In Rhythm (Multitrack & Protools Session)(12 Mono Tracks)(96k-24bit)
This is going to be a tricky one to pitch. Pardon the pun. There we go line 1.
The “purist” multitrack collector will really not like this pack much, because it is nowhere near what we call a “complete multitrack”. And you`ll hopefully be interested to know, there are quite a few of these types of packs around. Some have a multitude of missing parts, some will have the entire guitar and piano track mixed down (quietly) over a really loud electronic “beatbox” rendering it useless (more on that one soon), some will just have 8 tracks of silence. Sometimes, basically, it`s a bit “Pot Luck”.
But, it is all a matter of perspective. For now, it is what it is. Look on the brightside. Packs like this could be a rarity. There may be NO full version at all. So something is better than nothing? And to a remixer and not a collector, stuff like this is absolute gold. Put stems like these in the right hands and they find ALL the perfectly pitched,timed and best takes and make some loops.. and from those loops, they might make a top ten song, and everybody gets paid again. You just dont know (lol). I`d rather there were a 100 packs like this rather than a big fat zero of em tbh..
As to what is actually in this pack, for starters there`s a Protools session file in there so hopefully someone has already found the best loops..;) but musically, admittedly, it`s a let down. It seems there is only “some” instrumentation (no strings) 🙁 and percussion from the intro of the song only, and in 5 different takes. AKA: loop material.
But probably really really good loop material 😉

Where to start with Zedd? I`ve been a fan a while tbh, rated right up there with my more favoured EDM producers. Really talented guy.. and now all nicely signed up with Universal, feet under the carpet ECT.., so one would expect some more nice new compositions. Soon please.
Speaking of which, the new single. Not what I was expecting in all honesty, but it sort of fits into the current style of EDM/Pop quite nicely. Not a million miles away (musically) from what you might find on Dua Lipa`s Future Nostalgia. In fact you could throw this instrumental right in the middle of the Dua Lipa FN Insts and you`d be hard pressed to tell any difference.. (He`s that good).
Check out the video to Funny here . It is actually really funny. Very creative and safe to say its kinda inspired by the recent “lockdown” and Zoom streams ..sort of thing. Great video tho from start to finish.

Lastly, it seems Universal were kind enough to let the acapella and instrumental out into the open so you do have to wonder if they want some remixes done? Just a little plug for a song that had over 2000 remixes submitted in a recently held Remix Competition.. 2000 !
The winners remixes (Fishimora, Blender and Alessandro) were officially released a few days ago, and from what I`ve heard, they`re rather good, and kinda transformed a track I was 50/50 on, into something I now like. Hate it when that happens.
The Blender remix was mainly to blame. Big club drums and a prominent vocal & piano gets me every time.

NEWS: & Sol Levante [Anime] – Full ProTools Session (Video & Audio)
Some interesting news has been brought to my attention, so as is the case on things like this, time for a little write up. Now if your an avid Cubase fan like myself, ProTools and everything that comes with it, can be the nemesis of all nemesises to the regular “easy sequencer” guys like me. If that is you too, dont be scared either, just read on! In other news, some cool things are also afoot, that might just influence my dream of “Streaming Multitracks” that some of you have picked up on too. Might have to revise the Spotify stem player idea a little !
One other thing I did find interesting researching the news, is that it seems there is a streaming company I wasnt aware of (Tidal.com) who can stream FLAC`s at 96kHz 24bit (Lossless audio streaming to you and me) via A “Master Quality Authenticated” MQA audio codec. Dont know what it is or what it does but I still want one.. And they`re already involved with the likes of Sony, Universal & Warner. Hmmm.
So HQ Streaming: check. At least it`s possible. All that`s needed now is the bandwidth and the software to sync up a Multitrack or Stem Pack by least 10x whats happening now, and voila.
Then to join all that funkiness together with the one major player I discounted from my initial equazions: Netflix. Uses 15% of the web`s bandwidth, decent download speeds, already knows how to stream big files. But where is “Netflix Music” ? **waits patiently**
Conclusion: Netfilx needs to buy Tidal and stream Multitracks & Stems. Really soon. 🙂
Speaking of Netflix, Here`s a line or two of copy pasta about a new Netflix remaster project:

I mean, c`mon you`ll get a free write up and a link out if you do 😉 Just dont make it a complete P.I.T.A to get the stems which sometimes is the way with these things, and you`ll get some great publicity, I`m sure 😉
